What the ____!!
(please do not read if you are a perfect Mormon)
Sunday I'm sitting in Ward Council and the Bishop casually mentions something about our meeting time at 1:00pm AGAIN next year. I shake my head thinking maybe my ears heard that wrong. Clearly, I thought I heard that wrong, seeing how we've already had the joy of meeting at that glorious hour this year. The entire room must have been privy to this information before me since I was the only one in the room with my jaw to the floor. Then in a louder voice then normal...I managed to get out "What the heck?" What I really wanted to say was "What the hell?" But I refrained for obvious reasons. I'm sure we're already labeled as the "potty mouth" family anyway after Jack's previous outburst in sunbeams. So after much thought, Ted and I have narrowed our choices down to these:
A. Stop going to church
B. Join another church
C. Go to a different ward
D. Suck it up and stop complaining
I know, I know, some people like that time. But here at the Turk house...we hate it! So don't leave a comment on how great that time is and how much you love it, because I'm still kind of bugged and I don't want to hear it.

well, i would vote stop going to church. i mean yeah you could join another church but whats the point if its not true right? then you could suck it up, but who likes church at 1? you could join another ward, but really church is kinda boring anyway, so only go to another ward if you are only going for sacrament meeting only, really thats the only important part? plus the other 2 meeting are usually interrupted by a fussy kid or something comes up 90% of the time? so how about go to another wards sacrament and then do the rest on your own at your house??- like the rant? I have been debating on the whole thing too, our is 11 and that is a perfectly fine time but 99% of the time i get nothing out of it but taking the sacrament because of a kid so really wahts the point?
I HHHHATE that time with kids. It's the WORST. I think you should just find the nearest church and start attending their services at say... 9 a.m. Ya know, look for a Church Of Joy or something. Men are that they might have joy... no? ;)
I've decided that a three hour block stinks at any time when you have kids. You screw up nap times, meal times or whatever schedule you are on. I talked to Tom and it's because we have such a big ward and we need the space. So, I've come up with a different option - STOP BUILDING THE DANG CONDOS!!! I know some great people who live in them - but enough already. If we didn't have the condos, our ward would be the two neighborhoods and it would feel so nice and cozy. But, those dang condos come in and screw the whole thing up. If you live in the condos and you are reading this, I'm sorry. Nothing personal. I'm sure you are a wonderful addition to the ward.
If we have church at one again. We can start our own church. I'm sorry! I'm sure Lisa lovin' it too!!
I'm voting for option C. Attend a different ward. I think we actually move to 9:00. Jeff brings his stash of zingers and mtn. dew to nursery for snack time (not really the mtn dew but it sounded better.) How fun would that be the Turks and the Perry's in nursery for two hours. P-A-R-T-Y!! On top of that, that idea would get you out of anymore Christmas party planning. Just a suggestion, but we would love it!!
Well at least you don't have church at 2:00!! 1:00 is bad, especially 2 years in a row- so sorry! By the time we get out of church (5:00) it is already dark, we're hungry so we have to rush and make dinner and after that it feels like there's no time to get together with friends and family because it's bedtime, etc., etc. Luckily we only have to suck it up until August, so until then...
that so sucks!! after moving to az we got a 8am church time and hard as it is I would take it for eternity over the 1pm time. Good luck with that! Why would they do that though??? Maybe its just a test of loyalty and the second week in January they'll say well done faithful ward, what time would you like to meet! jk sorry it that sac religious

Our church time has been 1:30 this past year. YUCK!!! So, I feel for you. The church just needs to build more meetinghouses so that everyone is done with church by nap time! Amen!
I talked to Kailey and she is all about child labor laws, she is pretty pricey though and wants her picutes she has already taken copywrited :)
crappy! i would for sure become a Jehovah's Witness... oh, wait a minute, they don't celebrate any holidays. I guess it's a lose-lose situation! If you need any ideas on how to fill your Sunday mornings, talk to Stephanie F.
I probably shouldn't bring up the fact that we are switching to the coveted 11am time slot and I couldn't be happier. Sorry man.
Good Luck! Rebecca
I think you should move by me. We only have one ward in our building so we always meet at 9:30. That is the perfect time for me. Who on this earth thinks 1:00 is a good time? In the winter it is getting dark just as you are getting done. I think I moved out of your ward at the perfect time.
Fooey....1:00 church for another whole 12 months....YIKES!!! Well at least on 3rd Sunday at the Turks its a good reason to leave church early, because you have to travel almost an hour just to have dinner with us. ;)
I know you don't want to hear it but I'm one of those who like it. Were already late to chruch every Sunday when it's at 1:00, if it were any earlier we just might not make it. Too many girls to get ready for chruch! It also breaks up how much football I have to have on. I'll understand if you become inactive, it's definately a good excuse.
Jen, that is horrible news!!! I think I'd opt for option B. Most other churches only go once a year and nobody takes roll, so they would never know if you were missing. I had no idea. And i probably would have said what the Hell and felt really stupid when brother wirthlin made some comment to teach me a lesson on swearing. (not that I have ever had that lesson, but he always seems to be the one to kindly but blatently correct when I am being a bad example to the youth, like complaining about a 4:30 AM temple trip. Who wouldn't say that's too early?
I too am DREADING 48 more weeks of 1pm church. In fact, I woke up the other morning thinking of many possible solutions - as if what I had to say would matter to anyone who makes the decisions - but here goes. 1. Every primary class should have 12 kids in each class -I'll even volunteer to teach one of them. 2. The building by Harvest Elem. only has 2 wards - right? The 4th ward should move up there and then we could meet at 11 and have the whole building to ourselves. 3. Hold sacrament meeting last. The other wards would have to follow suit, but that's not a big deal. I will say that after 11 months of my least favorite church time, I am finally getting the hang of it and dinner is usually ready shortly after we get home!!
